Tips for Better Names
- Doubled or tripled "s" is the signature — "Ssethresh", "Zathrisss". Put it where the name will be drawn out when spoken.
- Yuan-ti society is rigidly hierarchical, so a title or epithet ("the Coiled", "the Unblinking") does real work in the name.
- Keep the vowels dark (a, o, u) and avoid bright endings; it separates yuan-ti names from elven ones that share similar length.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do yuan-ti names indicate rank?
Often. Pureblood, malison, and abomination yuan-ti move in a strict hierarchy, and an added epithet is the usual way a name signals standing.
Can a yuan-ti pureblood pass as human?
That is a common character premise, and it usually means carrying two names: a serpentine one used among yuan-ti and a plain local name used everywhere else.

About Yuan-Ti Name Generator
Yuan-ti names carry the weight of their ancient, serpentine civilization. Their names incorporate sibilant sounds - lots of S's and soft consonants that mimic the hissing of snakes.
Higher-caste yuan-ti often have more elaborate names, while purebloods who infiltrate human society may use simpler names or aliases.
